It is with heavy heart that we share the passing of our beloved Father, Tata, Uncle, Brother and Friend, Mickey Chavez. After a lifetime filled with love, laughter and family, he was called home to be with the Lord — reunited with his soulmate, Irene Chavez, the love of his life. We take comfort knowing they are together again, hand in hand, dancing in Heaven.

Mickey proudly served as Corporal in the U.S. Army, dedicating four years of service right out of high school. He married his high school sweetheart, Irene, who he met when he was 10 years old. Together they built a beautiful life and raised three children — Kent, Bruce and Debbie — and were blessed with four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A devoted family man, Mickey spent more than 20 years coaching baseball, often after working 10-hour days.

His passion for helping others far extended far beyond the baseball field — he was known throughout the community for his generosity and his heart for those with special needs. An avid Jazz lover, Mickey’s zest for life, humor and compassion touched everyone he knew.

Mickey was the heart of our family — a man who gave endlessly, loved deeply and found joy in every simple moment. His kindness, warmth and devotion will forever live in our hearts.

As we prepare to lay him to rest and celebrate the beautiful life he lived, we humbly ask for help covering memorial expenses and medical costs. Any amount, big or small, will make a difference and help us give Mickey the heartfelt farewell he deserves.
