Help Us Honor Michael Sherman with a Proper Grave Marker

Michael Sherman (Schy) passed away on July 24, 2023, at his home. Born on September 21, 1938, Michael was a devoted comedian and entertainer who dedicated his life to making others laugh. He proudly served in the US Navy and, up until shortly before his passing, performed regularly at local nursing homes, lifting the spirits of those in need.

Michael was a regular congregant at Hollywood Temple Beth El, where he cherished spending Shabbats with his friends. Sadly, Michael left no surviving family, and after a tense battle with the executor of his estate to avoid cremation, was buried at Mount Olive Cemetery in Commerce, CA, on September 13, 2023, receiving the proper Jewish burial that he truly wanted and deserved.

As the estate's executor refused to allow funds to be used for burial purposes, the Misasskim charity and a handful of generous community members graciously covered the funeral costs. Now, nearly one year after his burial, it is time to provide Michael with a grave marker that befits his memory. We are seeking to raise $1,500 to cover the remaining costs of this marker.
