Matthew was a man of many layers, one whose larger-than-life personality filled any room he entered. Known for his sharp wit and sarcastic humor, he had a unique ability to make those around him laugh, often pushing boundaries but always with affection. Beneath the humor was a deeply emotional man who loved fiercely and felt profoundly.

His greatest joy was being a husband and father. He poured his heart into raising Matthias and Jedidiah, striving daily to be the father they deserved. His love for his children was evident in every moment spent with them, from impromptu adventures to quiet bedtime stories.

Matthew also cherished his larger family—his mother and stepfather, Hedy and Jim, his beloved siblings, and his chosen family of close friends. His loyalty and love for them were unwavering, and he made it a priority to stay connected, offering support, laughter, and a listening ear whenever needed.

Why We Need Your Help

In honor of Matthew's memory, we have established this GoFundMe campaign with two primary goals:

1. Covering Funeral and Memorial Expenses: To provide Matthew with the farewell he deserves and support his young family during this challenging time.

2. Covering the costs associated with a full and independent autopsy, to better understand what led to his passing:

As we seek to understand the rare and serious potential side effects of a medication prescribed to him for mental health concerns related to his military service, the family must cover this cost out of pocket. If his sudden and unexpected passing was, indeed, a side effect of a medication prescribed to treat his service connected disability, his surviving family are entitled to certain benefits that will keep them housed, fed and allow them to grieve during this tragic time. An autopsy is required to determine exactly what happened and why.
