It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Mariano “Mario” Vazquez, a deeply loved father, son, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, padrino, and friend.

From a young age, he carried a joyful, playful spirit, always smiling, always making others laugh, and always making sure everyone around him felt included. To the children in our family, he was a big kid at heart. Someone who made every gathering feel special, full of laughter, games, and unforgettable memories.

He was born in Tendeparacua, Michoacán, and raised in Culver City on the west side of Los Angeles, where he helped build and nurture a close-knit family community that remains strong to this day. He opened his home with generosity and pride, hosting barbecues, pool days, bingo nights, and movie gatherings filled with joy and connection.

Mario was also one of the family members who helped begin a cherished Easter tradition over 40 years ago. A simple potluck that has since grown into one of our most beloved annual gatherings. Today, that tradition continues across generations, a living reflection of the love and unity he helped create.

In that same spirit, Mario also founded our larger Familia Garcia reunions, bringing together relatives from near and far. What began as his vision has become a lasting tradition carried on by others, a testament to his deep commitment to family.

Mario was a proud Marine Veteran who had the opportunity to travel the world. He later built a successful landscaping business alongside his father, creating opportunities for other family members and working with notable clients. He was also someone who embraced life’s simple joys, whether it was playing volleyball, going to the movies, or sharing his love of technology by inviting loved ones over to experience the latest in home entertainment.

Above all, Mario loved his family deeply. He created memories that will live on forever, through vacations with his parents and wife, laughter-filled weekends, and the countless ways he showed up for those he loved.

In recent years, Mario faced serious health challenges and bravely battled colon cancer. Throughout it all, he remained surrounded by the love of his family.

His passing leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts, but his legacy lives on in the traditions he created and the memories he gave us.

We are asking for support during this difficult time to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, medical bills, and to support his family as they navigate this loss. Any contribution, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated.

If you are unable to donate, we ask that you please share this page and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank you for your love, support, and for helping us honor Mario’s life.
