Our beloved Margarita was more than a mother and grandmother—she was the heart of our family and a source of light to everyone she met. For the last nine years, she fought end-stage renal failure with a resilience that left us in awe. Dialysis, which she endured three to four times a week, was exhausting, but she never let it dim her spirit. Instead, she turned every session into a moment of connection, laughter, and warmth.
Margarita had a way of making even the most difficult moments feel lighter. While the dialysis clinic’s TV droned on with dramatic soap operas, she’d playfully declare, “Oooh, that man right there? If I was 20 years younger…” Her exaggerated commentary would earn slight smiles, then chuckles, until the entire room—patients and staff alike—was engaged in lively discussions about world news or something completely trivial. As she left, she’d wave and say, “Same time next week for our viewing party?” Even in her discomfort, she made sure no one around her ever felt alone.
That’s who Margarita was—a woman who fostered human connection in the hardest of circumstances. She never had an easy life, but she loved deeply and meaningfully. Now, as we prepare to lay her to rest, we want to honor her the way she deserves. We are asking for your support to help cover funeral expenses so we can give her a beautiful farewell. Any contribution, big or small, will mean the world to us. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others. Thank you for helping us celebrate the life of a woman who gave so much to so many.
