Help Us Honor JJ's Memory and Legacy

On Thanksgiving Day, my little brother JJ took his final breath. He was fighter and fought to the very end. Last year he was diagnosed with Leukemia, he was cleared of it a few months back. Two months ago he was contacted about the possibility of doing a bone marrow transplant, to which he agreed to. We did not understand why he would need it if he was cleared, but we were told his cancer could come back stronger. It was working great and we had so much hope that by Christmas he would be back home. Today feels so surreal being back home with one less family member. But we wanted to get things clear, he fought cancer and won. He was cleared of cancer and his body was producing no cancer cells AFTER the transplant. What we did not expect to lead to his demise was medical negligence. He chose the hospital we were at because of the many professionals. He talked about how prestigious it was and that everything would be great. We were so let down by this.

Instead of a family of 6 we are down to 5 and an angel looking down on us. JJ welcomed cancer with a smile and constantly laughed at its face. He was always happy and cheerful and never let anyone see if he was in pain or not. He even told all his friends to not treat him any differently and they never did. I would always hear them joke around and laugh about his treatments, cancer, and talked about what they would do after he got better.

We never thought it would end like this. We always thought he would ring the bell and walk hand in hand with my mom out of the hospital. We lost a great soul. I lost my partner in crime who was always ready to make food at 3am with me. The one who would hold my hand when we were little until we fell asleep because I was too scared of the dark. The one who would walk with me to my car at night because I didn’t want to go alone. I lost my partner in crime who was always ready to play a prank on our siblings or parents.

Today we ask your compassion and support to help us fund his funeral and for any fees our family may inquire. Anything helps and we appreciate every cent and dollar we can get.
