We are deeply saddened to share the loss of our friend and longtime coworker, Jeff Smith, who passed away on June 10, 2025.
Jeff has been a fixture at Dymax for over 30 years, and it’s hard to put into words how much he meant to those of us who worked with him. His humor was bone-dry and unapologetically sarcastic — the kind that made you laugh out loud in moments when you probably shouldn’t. He had a knack for saying what no one else would, whether it was the hard truth you needed to hear or the perfectly timed inappropriate comment that cut through the stress of a bad situation and left you in stitches.
We probably can’t share most of his best one-liners here, but if you were lucky enough to know Jeff, you're probably hearing them in your head already.
He was also the guy you called when things went sideways. Jeff had a photographic memory and a mind built for solving problems. He rebuilt departments, untangled impossible messes, and quietly pulled this company out of more fires than we could ever count. His attitude was famously cynical, but beneath that was one of the biggest hearts around. He was loyal, fiercely sharp, and somehow always found time to help others. Jeff wasn’t just our coworker, he was a mentor, a friend, a work dad. He was family.
A few months ago, Jeff was diagnosed with cancer. It moved much faster than any of us could have anticipated or wanted to accept. We’re putting together this GoFundMe to help ease the burden on his family, covering medical bills, funeral expenses, and anything else they may need during this incredibly difficult time. Jeff would never have asked for this kind of help, but we all know he’d be the first to offer it to someone else without hesitation.
