Help Us Honor Georgette Lazar and Support Her Husband’s Care

This summer has brought unimaginable heartbreak to our family.

Last month, we lost a beloved cousin to addiction. And just weeks later, our family was devastated by the sudden and unexpected passing of our mother, Georgette Lazar, on July 19, 2025, at Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Georgette was a devoted wife, mother, and caretaker. She was married to her husband, Terry Lazar, for over 40 years. Terry is a U.S. veteran who uses a wheelchair and cannot stand or walk on his own. Georgette was not only his wife but his full-time caregiver and emotional anchor. Her passing has left a tremendous void in all of our lives, especially Terry’s.

On July 4, Georgette went to the emergency room with severe arm pain and overwhelming anxiety throughout her body. She was quickly admitted and diagnosed with an intracranial hemorrhage (brain bleed) and later suffered a severe stroke. Complications continued to arise, including a serious brain infection. Her condition rapidly declined, requiring a breathing tube, and eventually, life support. On July 18, with no signs of improvement, we faced the heartbreaking decision to remove her from life support. She passed peacefully the following evening.

We are now doing everything we can to:

Plan a respectful funeral and give Georgette the beautiful goodbye she deserves

Secure accessible housing for Terry, who cannot remain in his current apartment without Georgette's income or care

Cover the costs of full-time care for Terry moving forward

Handle the unexpected financial burden that came from hospital visits, caregiving, funeral planning, and the sudden loss of income

My husband, Andrew, spent every day this month at the hospital with his mother or at home caring for his father. We’ve now taken on the full-time responsibility of Terry’s care, but our current rental is not large enough and lacks a full bathroom on the first floor, which makes caring for him incredibly difficult.

We estimate it will cost nearly $10,000 just to secure a new rental that meets ADA accessibility standards, including first and last month’s rent, deposits, key and cleaning fees, and pet deposits. In addition, we are also trying to assist in covering funeral and burial expenses, and may be responsible for paying out Terry’s lease, which ends in October.

We’re reaching out to our community for help. Every donation, no matter how small, will help us navigate this heartbreaking time and provide the care, housing, and memorial that Georgette and Terry deserve.
