Help Us Honor Gabino Rafaela's Memory

to thank everyone who has been with us through these last 2 years. With broken hearts we sadly inform you, our friends and family that my dad, Gabino Rafaela, has lost his battle against cancer.

My dad was diagnosed with gastric cancer stage 4, in August 2022. He suffered a lot during his time in treatment. It was so difficult to see him suffer and not be able to take his pain away. We know that he is no longer in pain, that God has him in his glory and that he will watch over us. We are grateful that God gave him 2 more years with us. During this time we made memories with him, we enjoyed every moment we had with him. We loved having him laugh and tell his jokes. He was always such a happy person. Making everyone one laugh and enjoying time with family. He was one of a kind, someone who enjoyed being with family and friends, and giving my mom a hard time. We are all sad to see him go but at peace knowing he is in a better place. My mother continues her journey with her battle against leukemia. Life definitely threw us a curve ball but it amazes me how strong we are as a family. My siblings and I are so grateful for them and proud of our mother for her strength through these hard times. Since they were both not able to work our family has been struggling financially. I hope that we can come together and help my mother with funeral and burial expenses. I don’t want her to worry about finances, I just want her to be able to grieve in peace. A last gift for my father that will really help our family. Thank you for all the help you have given our family and all your prayers. Funeral will be at Alvarez Funeral Home Wednesday October 2, 2024 at 5pm. Located at 2500 N. Cicero Ave, Chicago IL 60639 and Burial on Thursday October 3, 2024 at 10:30am at Irving Park Cemetery located at 7777 Irving Park Rd. Chicago IL 60634.
