Help Us Honor Fred Knox with a Memorial
Donation protected
In the spring of 2024, we lost Fred Knox. Fred was a Medford Massachusetts born and raised baseball player, teacher, coach, and dear friend who touched the lives of many; especially those like me from Medford. At Fred’s celebration of life ceremony, three individuals discussed the possibility of establishing a memorial for Fred at his beloved Playstead park in Medford. In an effort to receive the City of Medford’s approval for a memorial at Playstead park, discussions were held with the Medford Park and Recreation committee, and the Mayor’s office. This process took several months, but we are very happy to announce that the three individuals, Ellis Lane, Chuck Andre and Gordon Lewis now have an approval for a granite stone memorializing Fred Knox! A wonderful bid was received from a granite stone engraver in Southern Maine who established the lowest price to accomplish this goal. We also received further approval from Fred’s widow Janet and their children Becky and Ricky Knox.
But… WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our goal is to raise $7,500 dollars by Mid May. We will conclude this feat with a baseball celebration with the unveiling of this monument at Playstead Park on June 8th at 1pm. Everyone is invited!
