Hi, my name is Christie Smoot, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support during one of the most difficult times in my life.

On Monday, August 18th, 2025, my siblings and I lost our father to a tragic act of violence — he was murdered. My husband and I are now trying to raise funds to lay him to rest with the dignity and love he deserves.

This has been a heartbreaking time for our family. In addition to covering funeral expenses, we are also struggling to maintain our home and prepare clothing for the service. The funds raised will go first toward the funeral costs, and anything left will help me provide for my family’s immediate needs during this time of grief.

What means the most to me is being able to give my children the chance to say their final goodbyes to their grandfather with dignity. My father was not only my hero, but also my children’s hero. He was the grandpa who played puzzles, read stories, ran around in games of tag, and gently corrected them when needed. He was the one who could always make them laugh, sneak them snacks when they weren’t supposed to have any, and be there whenever they needed him.

He was our light, our laughter, and our strength. Losing him has left a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled, but being able to honor his life properly would mean the world to us.
