With broken hearts, we share that Caroline has passed away after a courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of ALS. Caroline was a fighter from the very beginning. At just 2 years old, she was diagnosed with leukemia and endured chemotherapy and radiation. Doctors weren’t sure she would survive — but she did. She went on to grow up and give our family decades we were never promised. Despite living with a disability her entire life, Caroline never let her challenges define her. She was dedicated to Relay for Life and often visited children in the hospital who were battling cancer — offering them encouragement and hope, even when walking and daily tasks were difficult for her. She always found ways to make thoughtful gestures for others, putting people before herself. Our mom, Linda, was her primary caregiver and fiercest advocate. She never asked for anything for herself. She fought tirelessly to find fair treatment options and dignified care for Caroline, even when the system made it incredibly difficult. She stood beside her daughter every step of the way and remained her caregiver and voice until her very last breath. Last year, ALS began progressing rapidly. In just months, Caroline lost her ability to walk, speak, and eventually breathe on her own. She endured hospitalizations, ventilator support, and severe complications, yet she continued to fight with incredible strength. This disease is cruel, and we have now lost her far too soon. As we grieve, we are facing the financial burden of burial and funeral expenses, along with remaining medical costs. We are asking for help to give Caroline the dignified farewell she deserves.
