Help Us Honor Angelica Rivera's Last Wish

Meet my mother, Mrs. Angelica Rivera 84, a cancer survivor for 13+ years. She raised 5 children and as a Christian woman She always make the best she could to help others. Through prayer, counselling, and her wisdom, she has helped many, many people throughout her life.

Nine years ago, Angelica was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and Dementia which began to make it difficult for her to remember dates and witch people she has or haven't already pray for. For years she continued to pray and sing to the Lord and her wisdom was useful to a lot of us closest to her. But as time passed by, further and further apart she was able to remember. She started to forget how to sing, muscles forgot how to move stomach, forgot what hunger was. The brain seemed to forget how to talk, she began to forget more and more to the point that she forgets how to swallow. Today this disease has made her bound to bedrest and now the disease it’s claiming her.

Our set-income family has been living in the Tampa area for more than 30+ years. Being a Pentecostal Christian Family neither Mom nor the family belief in cremation. At one point she said: “I like to be buried in ground like my Jesus was, not cremated, and a service at the church afterwards”; Furthermore, she told me this shortly after she had her diagnosis, that as her oldest daughter, I “should make this happened”.

Due to her diagnosis, there was no Ins Co. that would insure her for funeral costs or burial service. As a family of 3 (me, my husband and her), we don't have the means or resources to make this happen for her, for it is a cost of $12K only for her burial.

Between the help of the church and what we can afford we think we’ll may have $1K. Still a lot more to get to the mark that the Funeral Home is asking us to make it happen for her and the move we must make afterward. This is why we are asking for help to get as close as possible to the $12K mark to be able to grant "Mama" as she is called by some, her wish to be buried.

We are now counting the days as they have told us she doesn’t have many lefts. The Drs. said: “to keep her comfortable and give her a lot of love. That’s all anybody can do”, he said. We don’t know how long she has left with us? days? Weeks? We don’t know but, one thing we do know and that is that it was the saddest Christmas ever.

As Christians, we believe in the power that has been given to the people that love one another's and helps one another's. I know and believe that "together we can do more than what one along can't".

We are counting with the good people of this channel to be a channel of blessing and help us grant the last wish of a great and wise woman that is about to leave us. Another way you can help is you can help us pray that God give us the miracle or give her enough days with us so we can get together and recollect what we need to grant Mom, Mama, Angelica or Mrs. Rivera her wish.
