As some of you may have heard, our long time friend Tim Bezoenik has been handed some tough medical news.
At this time he is unable to work due to the physical effects of his condition and the increased risk of what contracting Covid-19 could mean for him. Any funds donated will be used to help him and his girlfriend Jessica make ends meet.
Below is his story:
"On the morning of August 30th I went to emergency due to a coughing fit that ended with coughing up a fair amount of blood. After xrays and a CT scan, they found a very large mass on my lower right lung. I stayed the night at the hospital so they could monitor me and the next day I had a biopsy done. I was able to leave a couple hours after the biopsy. A few days later I was given the results. I was told I had a malignant carcinoid tumor which is best case scenario. A one and done surgery usually removes the problem and I would be able to go back to a normal life. The surgery was set for September 29th and the ball was rolling. I had multiple presurgery tests I needed done before hand and I was set. When I had my consultation with the surgeon about a week before surgery to go over the plan, I asked him about the other two lumps I wanted removed (he was the 6th or 7th person I referenced these other lumps to along the way after the lung mass was found and no one seemed to think twice about them). So quick note, two months ago I went in to my regular doctor to find out about a large mass that popped up on my forearm. I was told it was a lipoma (nothing to worry about) and I could get it removed through general surgery. I also had another lump that I noticed on my leg after the appointment, so I figured I would just do them both when I went in for the arm. I set up an appointment for that and of course, due to being so backlogged, the consultation appointment was set for 2 months out, now one day prior to my lung surgery. Anyway, when I asked the surgeon about these other 2 lumps he instantly got worried and started feeling them. He said that nothing about the arm mass felt like a Lipoma and the leg one felt the same. He said he wouldn't do surgery till we knew exactly what they were. So I had a rush PET scan done (a second one now as the first one only scanned for carcinoid tumors which showed up nothing but they said that happens) to scan for other forms of cancer. I also had a biopsy done on the arm now too. I got a call with the results of the biopsy on Sept 27th, two days before surgery, to tell me that the mass on my arm is also cancer which means the leg is too as they were the same. They canceled surgery as they won't do it if it travels that much and that fast. They also said that the one in my lung now looks like it is the same as the other two. I have a rare form of sarcoma and am now stage 4. Apparently sarcomas don't respond well to chemo either. Now it is said that more than likely the sarcoma in my arm started it all and then traveled to my leg and my lung. Pretty much went from best case to worse case scenario. I have a couple other options I will be exploring and still have hope I will beat this. All the prayers and good vibes sent my way are very much appreciated. "
