Sometimes Helping One More Changes Everything

My name is James Langston, founder and Senior Pastor of Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International (POMI).

After 27 years of service in the United States Navy and decades of Christian ministry, I have learned something that continues to shape my life:

You do not have to be able to help everybody to make a difference. Sometimes you simply have to be willing to help one more.

Today, that calling has brought our ministry to the Philippines, where we are working to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ while helping meet the very real needs of children, families, and communities.

And we are asking you to help us.

The People Behind This Campaign

Look at the photographs on this page.

These are not numbers on a spreadsheet.

They are children.

They are mothers and fathers.

They are families.

They are communities.

They are people with dreams, struggles, needs, and futures.

Some need educational assistance. Some need food or practical help. Some need medical or dental care that may otherwise remain beyond their reach. Some need encouragement, prayer, discipleship, or simply someone willing to sit beside them and remind them that they have not been forgotten.

And every one of them is precious in the sight of God.

This is why Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International exists.

We believe ministry must be willing to go beyond the walls of a church building. We want to take the Gospel where people are—and when possible, bring practical help with us.

What We Are Building

Our long-range vision for the Philippines is substantial.

Ultimately, we envision a permanent ministry base capable of supporting an expanding network of outreach throughout the Philippines, including:

Evangelism and church planting

Educational assistance and student sponsorship

Food and humanitarian relief

Medical and dental outreach

Youth ministry and development

Bible distribution and discipleship

Community and family assistance

Tent revivals and open-air evangelistic outreaches

A permanent ministry headquarters from which these efforts can grow

When we examined the complete vision, the estimated long-term need approached $1.9 million.

That is a big number.

We know it.

But we also know that large visions are accomplished one faithful step at a time.

So we are not asking you to help us raise $1.9 million today.

We are beginning with Phase One: $100,000.

This first goal will allow us to strengthen the ministry infrastructure, expand existing outreaches, help more children and families, support evangelistic and humanitarian efforts, and begin laying the groundwork for the larger vision.

We have to start somewhere. This is where we are starting.

Why the Philippines?

For us, the Philippines is not simply a location on a map.

It represents people we have come to know, people we pray for, and communities where we believe God has opened doors for ministry.

There are places where what many of us consider a relatively small expense can become a serious obstacle for a family.

A school need matters.

A meal matters.

Medicine matters.

Transportation matters.

A Bible matters.

A helping hand matters.

And sometimes there is no Plan B.

When there is no second option waiting, one person deciding to help can become the difference between nothing happening and something happening.

That is why your gift matters.

What Can My Donation Really Do?

Perhaps you cannot give $1,000.

Maybe you cannot give $500.

Perhaps $100 is difficult.

That's okay.

We are not asking everyone to give the same amount.

We are asking everyone who believes in this mission to prayerfully consider doing something.

A $10 gift joined with another $10 gift becomes $20.

Ten people giving $25 becomes $250.

One hundred people giving $100 becomes $10,000.

And when thousands of people decide that helping one more person matters, something remarkable can happen.

Little becomes much when many hands carry it together.

Your donation is not insignificant simply because someone else can give more.

Give what you can.

Share the campaign if you cannot give.

Pray for us whether you give or not.

All three matter.

More Than Charity

Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International is a Christian ministry, and we make no apology for placing Jesus Christ at the center of what we do.

Food can satisfy hunger for a time.

Education can open doors.

Medical care can relieve suffering.

A safe place can protect a child.

All of these things matter deeply, and we want to help provide them.

But we also believe every person has an eternal soul.

That is why our humanitarian work and our Gospel mission walk together.

We want to feed people and tell them there is hope.

We want to help children learn and teach them that their lives have purpose.

We want to help families through difficult seasons and remind them that God has not forgotten them.

We want to meet people where they are and, whenever possible, leave them stronger than when we found them.

Why $100,000?

Because faith does not require us to pretend that $1.9 million is small.

It requires us to believe that the first step is possible.

$100,000 is our first mountain.

When we reach it, we will be able to look back and say that thousands of prayers, shares, gifts, and acts of generosity came together to move this ministry forward.

Then we climb the next mountain.

And the next.

As Scripture reminds us:

“Ye have not, because ye ask not.” — James 4:2

So we have prayed.

We have planned.

We have gone.

We have worked.

And now...

we are asking.

Will You Help Us Help Them?

And whether you give or share, please pray for us.

Pray for the children.

Pray for the families.

Pray for our workers and ministry partners.

Pray for the communities we have not reached yet.

Pray that God will provide every resource necessary to accomplish what He has placed before us.

And whenever the name Pilgrim Outreach Ministries International comes across your mind or heart, please remember us in prayer.

There is much work ahead.

There are many miles yet to travel.

There are communities still waiting.

There are children whose futures can be changed.

There are families who need hope.

And there are souls that need to hear that Jesus Christ still saves, still loves, still restores, and still gives hope.

We cannot do it alone.

But perhaps we were never supposed to.
