Dear friends and family,

We are writing with a heavy heart as we never thought we would be in this situation anytime soon with our kitties. Our beloved cat, Tela, has been diagnosed with FIP-induced Liver Disease, and the vet bills are piling up. Tela is more than just a pet to us; she is our fur baby, a source of joy and comfort. With our own fertility in question, Tela has been our shining light for six years, and we cannot bear the thought of losing her.

It's never good timing for unexpected expenses, but the timing for Tela's illness couldn't be worse. We just bought a house and used up nearly all of our savings, and now we are struggling to pay for Tela's treatment. We had to take her to the vet twice within a week, and the bills came to a staggering $3,473. It was devastating to hear that our girl was so sick and had no clear path to recovery.

However, we are not giving up. We refuse to let FIP take Tela away from us without a fight. Thanks to multiple friends' recommendations, we found out about a Facebook group where we could get in touch with people who have access to an 80% effective curing medication. The drug is not yet FDA-approved, but it is backed by a UC Davis study and trials, and the FB groups are littered with success stories.

We started her on this medication right away. However, it is expensive, costing $27 per dose, once a day for 12 weeks.

Since the vet has no further solutions that we can even consider if we can afford or not (they can't discuss the GS drug but gave a thumbs up) we are taking it into our own hands at home, quite literally hand-feeding her while she has no appetite to eat on her own, getting her to swallow daily pills for her liver (Rx from the vet), as well as administering the daily GS injections ourselves. She's taking it like a champ, receiving the treatment well and we carry on with so much hope!
