Today was a scary day at the rescue and we had to call out the emergency vet for Sonic. One of our amazing volunteers noticed that he wasn’t quite acting right, and things quickly progressed from there. He didn’t come for dinner, which is VERY unlike him. And then he began hanging his head very low, having tremors and hyper-salivating. When the vet arrived he had a fever and several other abnormal vital signs, including his breathing which had become rapid and harsh.
They immediately started running tests to try to figure out what was going on. His initial blood work came back elevated with markers pointing towards some kind of bacterial infection. The rest of his blood work should come back tomorrow and we will hopefully know more then. In the mean time he was given IV antibiotic’s, several different medications and supportive care.
He started to perk up a bit but still has a ways to go with us administering medications multiple times per day. Please share and donate if you can. I know everyone is struggling right now but the costs don’t stop once they’re saved, if anything they increase exponentially. In order for the rescue to keep its doors open, sanctuary herd safe, and continue saving lives we NEED donations.
