Let's help Santana BEAT CANCER TWICE.

https://www.facebook.com/TheOriginalcancerKiller/By all accounts, the past few years have been a great new start for our hygienist Michelle (which most of you may know as Mitch) and her 12 year old son, Angel Santana Ursua, our dear friend. After he and his family recently finished his 3 ½ year battle with Leukemia, he has been enjoying being a kid. In addition to navigating through middle school, he has been experimenting with all the different sports including baseball, football, and jiu-jitsu, just ready to take on the world.

On Friday, March 1st, however, after what was to be another routine checkup, Santana’s blood test came back with some questionable markers. His parents and doctors initially hoped it was just a passing virus that caused the dip in his counts. Then, on Monday, March 4th, his family’s fears were confirmed. Santana’s cancer has come back.

In the face of this devastating news, Santana continues to be incredibly strong and positive. Humor and laughter, which have been a huge part of his life, will undoubtedly help him with what lies ahead. Just hours after being diagnosed, Santana was already making plans to get back to his big sister, then go back to school and see his friends, for what will undoubtedly be the last time they get to hang out for the time being while he undergoes treatment.

Santana is, simply put, a sweet, kind, gentle, generous soul with a heart for those less fortunate; even going as far as to coordinate a hair drive for Wigs for Kids and fundraising for Ronald McDonald House in Spokane, Washington, upon completion of his initial battle with Leukemia. This amazing kid has a heart of gold. Throughout his short but wonderful life, he has experienced more than anyone his age should ever have to endure.  Santana has perfected the fine art of friendship. So many of his extended family, friends, and community have reached out wanting to know how they can help support him and his family during this difficult time.

As Santana and his family face the new challenges ahead yet again, both his parents will have to juggle all aspects of everyday life, even periodically putting work on hold. There will be a range of medical, travel, and other expenses, as they will be traveling long distances to and from treatment, for what initially is expected to be 2 years. We are asking for your help so our dear friend Santana can use the time ahead to GET HEALTHY, spend time with his family and, when able, his many wonderful friends.

Every prayer, every positive thought, every dollar, and every gesture of support is greatly appreciated.
