Help Us Help Penny Live Her Best Final Days

Hi guys! My name is Alexa Shaffer, and that sweet face you see in the picture is my sister Amanda and her boyfriend Tre's dog, Penny. She has been with us for about 3 years now. Before she came to us, she was at the SPCA in Newport News for 5 years. I've lived with my sister and her boyfriend for a few months now and in those few months, Penny has stolen my heart. Since being with us, she has lived such a good life. She is very spoiled and so full of love, but recently our sweet girl just hasn't been herself. My sister took her to the vet on September 23rd, and we unfortunately found out she is slowly but surely coming to the end of her life. The vet informed my sister that she has fluid built up in her lungs and a large tumor that's bleeding internally. The vet told us there is nothing that we can do nor is there anything they can do but to make her as comfortable as possible for the time being. They sent my sister home with medications to keep her as comfortable as possible while we begin her "end of life care". We are still hopeful that something can be done and we won't give up on trying to get her all the help we can. With all that being said we just need all the help we can get right now while trying to cover vet bills and ger hell all the help we possibly can. They told us it could be 3 days, 3 weeks or even 3 months before we lose her. We have created this GoFundMe in hopes to get a little help as far as her vet bills and putting her down when the time comes. Penny has brought so much joy, love and laughs to our family and this will be a loss too big to put into words. Sometimes life gets the best of us and with trying to keep our heads above water with bills and things like that, we could use a little help making sure our sweet girl gets the care she needs. Anything will be greatly appreciated and we just ask that everyone keep us in their thoughts as we prepare not only ourselves but Penny as well for what's next.
