Help us help our Dad please

My Dad Larry is 81 years old and up until a few months ago he was living independently with occasional help being provided by family and friends. However, the life my dad once lived is no longer.
On Christmas Eve he was taken to the ER via ambulance because my sister found him on the floor, disoriented and showing signs of various health concerns. Once in the hospital they diagnosed him with AFIB, confirmed he had another stroke and found a serious infection in his leg (2 out of 3 arteries were 100% clogged- seriously effecting his mobility).
Dad's life was changing/declining very quickly. He was transferred to a SNF (skilled nursing facility) which provided terrible care and resulted in additional health concerns due to neglect. This was obviously also affecting his mental health and we saw a decline in our dad’s historically contagiously positive demeanor.
It was a blessing in disguise the day I got the call that Dad had tested positive for COVID-19 because this meant he could be transferred back to the hospital and out of that terrible place.
Due to the lack of care he received at the SNF, our Dad had lost the ability to do the things he was once able to do independently. This has been devasting for us as his family to watch, knowing there was only so much we could do to support him during this process.
Once discharged from the hospital again, he was taken to a different SNF where he has been receiving much better care. However, he still needs assistance to take care of his daily needs, and insurance is running out. We as a family have discussed options for his Long-Term Care and we have decided it would be best for Dad to come live with me. I will be his 24/7 caregiver until GOD calls him home or he needs more care than I can give him.
We wanted to provide some context to explain why we need help. Dad has minimal savings to help relocate him (from San Diego) and Myself (from Boston) to Missouri. He will need specific medical equipment for him to live safely and comfortably in our home and we were counting on his savings to cover these costs. However, we were recently informed that as of March 22, 2022, his insurance will no longer cover his room and board at the SNF, and he will be charged $488 a day. Yes, a day!
We can't move into the house in MO until the 1st of April so he will need to pay out of pocket up front daily. Best case scenario he will need coverage for 12 days, that’s $5,856, and that’s assuming all his equipment is delivered on time and my sister is able to get flights for herself and him on April 2nd.
We are struggling to figure out how we can afford all this, so we are kindly asking for help. We would like to use the money to reimburse his room and board costs so he can continue to buy the medical items he needs as well as pay his medical bills that he has accrued.
My Dad is a man that doesn't ask for much and he is unaware that we are making this request. We feel it would cause him more grief and stress if he knew we were in this situation.
Thank you for any help you can offer to our Dad and our family as we attempt to give him the best quality of life we can.
