Help Sokhom fight stage 4 lung cancer.

It is with heavy heart that our brother, Sokhom (known as Victor to his friends and Bob to his family/siblings), was hospitalized on October 25, 2023 and diagnosed with stage 4 adenocarcinoma lung cancer.

Sokhom have been struggling with asthma ever since he was a child. Some days his asthma would get bad enough that it would cause him to cough uncontrollably. In order to cope he would mainly lay down and rest, as an inhaler could only do so much. Lately we've noticed he's been coughing a lot more frequently and laying down for practically majority of the day. We mostly thought his graveyard shift at work was just too taxing on him or that he's still not use to the early schedule yet. When asked about his coughs, he would pass them off as allergies. Roughly a year ago he suffered a work-related injury to his left leg when he fell on top of a box awkwardly, which caused him to walk at a very slow pace with a limp ever since. We've been encouraging him that a few minutes of stretching everyday would help alleviate the pain, but as time went on it didn't seem to get any better. It really discouraged him from taking part in many activities and planned trips. In fact, it got so painful that it was the main reason why he decided to admit himself to the hospital.

Upon admission, he also mentioned his breathing difficulties as well and a CT scan was then performed on his leg, abdomen, and chest. The scan had revealed that his leg had a lesion because of a fracture in his femur and his right lung was filled half way up with fluids. They were able to drain about 1.7 L of fluids from his lung and malignant cells were then discovered which were in the advanced stages and had already spread outside of its source.

After coming home for only 4 days, Sokhom needed to be hospitalized a second time for chest pains and shortness of breath. It appeared that his right lung had amassed more fluids. He was immediately placed on oxygen for the remainder of the stay until a catheter was placed in him to help drain the fluids as it is accumulating at a rapid rate. Once the catheter procedure was done, he was able to come home and needed his lung to be drained every 3 days.

Since the diagnosis we've noticed he's lost a considerable amount of body weight, constantly fatigued, vomiting, little to no appetite, headaches, leg, neck and back pains. Despite all of this, Sokhom appears to be in good spirits.

Sokhom is a very caring and loving brother who takes time out of his day to help with family needs without question, despite his own health concerns. Whether it be accommodating our parents to their doctor's visit, refilling their prescriptions, taking the pets to the vet, or just simply running a few errands; he was always willing to lend a hand. Now it's our turn to take care of him.

We are using this platform in hopes that we are able to care for him financially with medical supplies, further treatments, and possible unexpected medical expenses. Any donations would be greatly appreciated in assisting our family in caring for him throughout his road to recovery and improve his quality of life.

Thank you so much in advance. We are hoping for the best and praying for a miracle.

Update:
11/22/23- He's currently admitted to City of Hope. After running a few tests on him they've discovered that the cancer has since spread to his brain, bones, spinal cord, back, ribs, and pelvis area. He's now being placed on chemo infusion and pill. They've also detected a blood clot in a vessel in his heart and has been given blood thinner to help treat the blood clot.
