Hi everyone
We’re Ziv and Eden, two third-year psychology students currently living in Israel, and we’re raising money to volunteer in Tanzania through a psychology-focused program with Health Mission Africa.
Health Mission Africa connects volunteers with local placements in Arusha, Tanzania, to help improve access to healthcare, education, and mental health support. As psychology students, we’ll be working directly with children and individuals who are dealing with emotional challenges, offering strength and helping create an open and safe environment. This organization provides placements in orphanages, hospitals, women centers, recovery programs, and community outreach initiatives. In many of these communities, mental health is still heavily stigmatized and resources are limited, so even basic support, attention, and education can make a real difference. We’ll be helping create safe spaces, assisting with daily activities that promote well-being, and contributing to initiatives that bring awareness and care to people who often don’t have access to it.
Ziv (23) is originally from Florida and Eden (24) from New York—both of us are former IDF soldiers who found a shared passion for helping others, especially children and underserved communities. Through our studies and life experiences, we’ve both realized how important mental health support is, and we want to take that beyond the classroom and into real communities that need it.
This GoFundMe isn’t just about getting us to Tanzania—it’s about giving back. The funds will go directly toward participating in a program that supports local communities through psychological care, education, and outreach. By helping us get there, you’re also helping sustain and grow the work this program does on the ground.
Below is our projected budget for this mission; any funds not used for any reason (seasonal price changes, altered plans, etc.) will be donated to one or more of the organization placements available through Health Mission Africa:
$1500 (x2) - Approx. flight ticket cost from Tel Aviv to Tanzania
$1880 (x2) - Four weeks in Health Mission Africa Program (includes two meals a day, accommodations, and internship connections)
$400 (x2) - Visa and travel insurance
$220 (x2) - Daily transportation for four weeks
$4000 (x2) - Individual budget for our mission
