A large portion of our funds went towards Maisie’s treatment, which has left us struggling financially to make ends meet and we’re now struggling to continue her medical care so we’re asking for your help!!
Maisie had blood tests done, fluids.. she was kept on a drip.. her bladder and colon have now stopped working.
A message from Maisie’s first foster Mum:
“Maisie came to me with her tiny kittens, all underweight and malnourished. She couldn’t stand properly on her back legs and had been found in a bush eating mouldy chip-shop chips just to keep her milk flowing for her babies.
The vets warned me they had very little hope for her recovery, but when she looked at me with what felt like a pleading “please help me” look, I knew I had to try.
I took them home, learned how to help Maisie empty her bladder, and hand-reared her kittens with syringe feeding after many late nights watching YouTube tutorials. Amazingly, every single kitten survived and went on to loving homes.
Maisie’s road was much harder. She had suffered a severe tail-pull injury and had to have her tail removed. For months I helped her empty her bladder and did daily physio, heat therapy, and anything else I could research to try to help her regain movement.
Slowly, she began to stand… then walk… and eventually use the litter tray again. She always looked so proud of herself, as if she knew how far she had come.
After about 18 months, Maisie made what felt like a miracle recovery. She could jump onto chairs and even do the occasional zoomies.
Sadly, my other cat began bullying her, and the sparkle in her eyes started to fade. So with a very heavy heart, I moved her to a loving foster home with Jane, where she now has the run of the flat and can live peacefully.
Maisie is one of the bravest little cats I’ve ever known. After everything she’s been through, she never gave up.
Thank you for reading her story and supporting this incredible little survivor.”
