Hello everyone, my name is Danielle. I’m here to ask for help, something I’m really bad at doing. I’ve been the helper, the fixer, so this is extremely difficult to do.
But Kiara needs help and we need help paying for it. On 11/1/23 Kiara was diagnosed with an anal gland mass. On 11/9/23 we learned through a great oncology team at AERC of Minnesota that her cancer has unfortunately spread to a few lymph nodes surrounding her mass. Her type of cancer is called apocrine gland anal sac adenocarcinoma. Her life expectancy with treatment is 18-31 months. Without treatment, 50% of dogs with her diagnosis live less than 12 months.
I am desperately asking for your help and generosity. Kiara is not just a dog to me. She has stood by my side as my service dog when I was diagnosed with PTSD as a retired police officer. Kiara saved my life. Before I made the decision to leave police work, I was sitting on the floor with my service weapon ready to be done with life from all of the pain. Kiara came and licked away my tears, giving me a reason to live that night. I’m asking for your help to give me a chance to save her life.
Kiara has not only helped me but many dogs during her life also. I fostered for Minnesota Pit Bull Rescue for seven years and she was my second foster. Something about her made me keep her. But since then, she has helped teach countless puppies manners, helped abused and shy dogs come out of their shell and learn how to play and be a dog, and has taught all 65 of the dogs we’ve fostered how to snuggle up for the best cuddles.
Kiara needs surgery to remove the mass and the lymph nodes the cancer has spread to. That surgery is going to cost $6000 to $7100 according to the estimate we have received from AERC. I’m not asking for help paying the whole thing, I’m asking for help for part of it. I have attached a picture of the estimate also. Kiara will need chemo and on going treatment after surgery so we know the bills will be piling up.
Kiara has touched so many lives for the better and is such a special dog. If you can’t help out monetarily, please share our story. Thank you.
