HELP US HELP JOSH in his fight for LIFE!

God called on you all for prayers and support following the diagnosis of Josh’s cancer back in September of last year, which was only discovered as a result of Josh having paralysis and difficulty breathing that hit him out of nowhere! As a result of your prayers and after what could ONLY be called a God driven surgery in Indy to remove the cancer tumor located on his spine, was Josh able to master how to walk again. This extremely challenging time was all the while he and his then pregnant wife, Shannon were raising their 1 yr old daughter Faith in addition to preparing for the arrival of Isaiah. Josh rose above the impossible by keeping focused on the God of the POSSIBLE and returned to work full time less than 6 months later!!! Josh is an OVERCOMER! His relentless fight with God’s strength allowed him to be right by Shannon’s side to witness God deliver His precious gift to them amidst just having overcome darkness! The birth of Isaiah reignited the light in their lives! Hence Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

 

Fast forward to present, in just the last month Drs. learned that Josh’s cancer had spread. Leptomeningeal Disease (LMD) which is defined by the involvement of the membrane (meninges) surrounding the brain and spinal cord by cancer. His doctors in Fort Wayne had been doing immunotherapy therapy but just a few weeks ago determined it was not working giving Josh and Shannon the devastating news that “ there is nothing more we can do”. It was now Palliative Care at this point for the remaining 3-6 months they gave Josh to live. Thankfully, God made it clear to them both that giving up was not an option! With persistence and fierce determination God opened the door for Josh to see a world renowned specialist in his type of cancer, Dr. Isabella Glitza at MD Anderson in Houston Texas.

 

After what felt like God parting the Red Sea to get Josh to TX safely, we made it there with even an extra day for Josh and Shannon to get some much needed rest and mental preparation in prayer for his appointment the following day. Josh and Shannon’s unwavering faith allowed them to anchor their emotions by trusting God, who they know is truly the one and only great physician that can heal Josh on earth. With God’s peace that surpasses all understanding leading the way, Josh and Shannon committed to following Dr. Glitza’s treatment plan whatever that would be. After Dr. Glitza had Josh do an MRI and blood work to determine the course of action, they waited 2 days for the results. Dr. Glitza informed them that her assessment concluded based on the MRI showing cancer progression that the clinical trail was not an option at this point and that first step of treatment would be Full Brain Radiation in conjunction with chemotherapy ultimately with the main goal of stabilizing the cancer progression long enough to qualify Josh for the clinical trial she is leading of which has demonstrated success in prolonging life. However, of course Josh’ and Shannon’s focus is not prolonging life but living a FULL life!!! Dr. Glitza concluded that first course of treatment for Josh could be done back home in Fort Wayne Indiana. After another long strait through drive, family got Josh and Shannon home safely where they were tearfully reunited with their sweet babies!

 

Josh started is treatment, today Nov. 23rd. He will be experiencing more agressive new symptoms but then hopefully get some alliviation of his current symptoms, specifically the constant ringing in his ears and auditory limitations. The new symptoms of possible nausea, loss of appetite, neurological and cognitive decline, as well as hair loss will require much more hands on care. We are trusting God on His promise that, Josh "can do all things through Christ which strengthens him"(Philippians 4:13). Your finacial gift will help bring the necessary level of round the clock care to this family along with helping care for Faith and Isaiah! Shannon has been and is a Godly Superhero, hand choosen by God to be the best wife and best mother in this dire situation! Let come along side her and take off the 24/7 duty of a caretaker, and let her have time to be his wife! For the 2 of them to get to be Husband and Wife, Parents, mommy and daddy..... Instead of always having to be caretaker and patient!
