Help us Help Helen in her stroke recovery. ❤️‍

Donation protected
Hello friends/family of Helen Bennett.

I’m Sarah Bennett, Helen’s daughter in law.

I have made this page due to so many of Helen’s friends wanting to bring her gifts which has been amazing and we thank you all. To all those who have come to visit, support, cards, hugs, gifts, treats. It’s all so appreciated.

This is an idea I’ve had to help Helen in her recovery as we feel she is going to need everything going to support and give her the best chance in her rehabilitation. So if you had any plans on gifts etc. Then please donate here as this will go to something that is going to help her get better.

She currently still hasn’t any movement in her left side, which is also causing her pain and it must be so frustrating for her.
She is getting feeling and the physios have felt a reflex of something present in her leg/arm.

But Here everyone can get involved or contribute to treatment, which could make a remarkable difference.

Myself and Warren have recently bought her a TENS/ Electrical stimulation muscle therapy machine. However more research shows that Oxygen therapy can be a great way to support the tissues in recovery. Which we can get for her at the MS Centre in Leicester.

The recommended course is of 15 x 1 hour sessions of oxygen therapy at £285.

Alongside extra for physio therapy. These can be great therapy’s to Combine and enhance recovery process following a serious stroke.

What ever you can or want to donate will go toward these therapies for Helen. If we go over the goal. Then we will get more oxygen therapy, physio or put towards anything that will help her. Or top up if we don’t make the goal.

We are soon getting prepared for Helen to move from St Luke’s hospital.
This is in discussion currently of what is best for Helen to ensure she’s making progress. However whatever the move will be it’s looking likely that she won’t be getting physio while they put an application in for this and will be on a wait list.

Hence the need for alternative measures of therapy’s and requirement of private physios in the mean time. To ensure we don’t go backwards.

She has made many strides since her stroke on the 27th April 2024 but we want to make sure she keeps heading in the right direction and supporting her as much as possible in this.

Helen isn’t aware I’ve done this go fund me page as I know she wouldn’t want to ask for help or burden anyone.
But this is why I have taken on myself to ask for help.
This woman gives and gives and has done her whole life as many who know her will know.
If it wasn’t being a nurse in the NHS for over 30 years, being a school nurse, run leading couch to 5ks, marshalling races of all sorts, running the London marathon in 2016 for muscle dystrophy, loads of other fundraising, granny duties, caring for her parents and Gilmorton baby and toddler group.

Wowe. What a woman!

She’s had her own trials and tribulations over her life time but to strive on and be that person still. She’s truly inspiring and remarkable. And for that. I’m proud to be making this go fund me.

It’s time for everyone to give to her.
She truly deserves it and more.

Thank you for taking the time to read. And should you want any further information or questions. Please do get in touch with myself Sarah.
Big love everyone! Xxx
