Help us help Hazel get the surgery she needs.

Hello friends. We never thought we’d have to do this but we could really use some help to help our kitten Hazel get a much needed surgery.

We adopted Hazel in June and she is an amazing lovable little 4 month old kitten who loves playing, snuggling and constantly purrs.

Sadly two weeks ago while playing with her sister she had a freak accident and badly broke her leg.

We took her in for X-rays and were told that she needed a surgery called a Femoral Head Ostectomy. You can see from the X-ray below that the leg is completely broken from her hip.

Unfortunately the surgeon there did not feel comfortable doing the surgery. They would amputate the leg which would likely be just s costly but seriously lessen her quality of life. We have called many places and they are all booked out months. Finally we found a surgeon at VESH in South Deerfield that agreed that FHO is what she needs and assured us that he can do it.

The caveat being the cost….around 4000 dollars. This was obviously quite a shock and much more than we ever expected.

We absolutely adore this kitten no want to give her a long life with our family.

We have scheduled the consultation for September 16 with surgery to follow soon after. In the meantime we are trying to keep her comfortable and separate from her kitty siblings.
