HELP US HELP HAYLEY 

My name is Sharon Monty and I live in Canberra. Hayley's mum is my best friend and I have known Hayley her whole life. Hayley means the world to me and is like a niece. I have started this fund raiser to assist Hayley and her family with current and future needs.

We are asking for your support to help Hayley who has just turned 18. She has been bed ridden in hospital since 20 May 2018, with a very rare case that has doctors stumped. Hayley's mum Bec is a single mother to four with Hayley being the eldest.

Hayley was taken into hospital with a rash on her stomach and extremely swollen feet as well as a tonsil infection. This rash quickly spread to most of her body followed by the swelling of her hands and arms.

The rash on her feet and lower legs changed her skin to black and purple and the infection continued to spread each day. This has resulted in numerous painful surgeries. Fortunately, doctors were able to stop this spreading after a terrifying 5 days of watching it rapidly progress up her legs. 

Hayley continues to have surgery every 2-3 days to have the dressing on her feet and legs changed, as well as numerous blood test, scans and medication changes. In the time Hayley has been in hospital she has had 11 surgeries (with many more to come) Dialysis, countless tests and continuous pain. 

Due to swelling in her arms and legs she has developed arthritis in numerous places in her body with this also causing her a lot of pain.

As Hayley’s hospital visit progressed so has the bad news with doctors now finding blood clots in her legs and other areas including on her brain which is affecting her eye sight and causing headaches, a blocked valve in her heart and septicaemia. 

This was and has been terrifying for Hayley and her family. All we can do is be there for her and try to keep her mind and spirits strong, while doctors continue to search for answers. 

There is a small, but dedicated team of supporters for Hayley. Her mum Bec and her mum’s best friend and husband Shaz and Russ Monty, one set of elderly grandparents living on a pension - Leah Wiggins and Barry Wiggins and one single aunty - Nicole Wiggins. This small team has been stretched to the limit with time and finances which is why I am reaching out to you today to ask for any financial assistance you can afford to assist Hayley and her family through this trying time.

The cost in petrol alone for the 50km round trip that is being done at least twice daily by her mum, and at least once daily by other Team Hayley supporters has been extremely expensive. This travel has been essential as Hayley needs the moral and emotional support to get through this. Hayley also has good, clothes and toiletries supplied by her mother.

We are unsure of what rehabilitation Hayley will require when she does get out of hospital, which doctors have estimated as being 3 to 4 months down the track, however when she does we want to be able to get her the best quickest treatment possible to try and help her get back to the life she deserves and should to be living. 

All donations will be deposited directly into Hayley's account. This will be used for Hayley and her family's needs through her hospital stay and rehabilitation. This will assist with long stay hospital fees, transportation for family, future medication requirements, Hayley's food, clothes and toiletries etc.

We are hoping to raise some money for any future living needs, as this will have a big impact on her life.

It's incredible what Hayley has had to endure. Hayley has been amazingly strong through her horrific ordeal and is simply an inspiration to us all.
