Help us help Cyndi King and her sons Roman & Alex
Donation protected
Our sister Cyndi is in need of urgent medical care and both her sons Roman and Alex are in need of immediate support. Cyndi, her boys, and our family have a long road ahead of us and are reaching out for help.
About 10 days ago, We recieved a call from our nephew notifying us that Cyndi was rushed to a local hospital in Decatur IL. Her brother, immediately got on a plane and rushed to the boys side. After initial tests were run, it was determined that she was in acute liver failure and partial kidney failure, and was immediately transferred to University of Chicago Medical Center. It has been determined that Cyndi will require a liver transplant and possibly a kidney transplant in the future.
Cyndi is in the ICU, a six-hour round trip from her home. She has been on continuous dialysis for her kidneys along with multiple other treatments as she is evaluated for transplant.
Cyndi's long term survival at this point requires a liver transplant, her medical team has required that the family provide constant support throughout the first 6-12 months post-transplant. This will require her boys to move and be support by family. This will also require Cyndi's family to rotate from multiple other states to Chicago to live with Cyndi as she recovers. An apartment or house rental in Chicago is required for up to the first 3-6 months.
Cyndi has been ill for quite some time and her home may not be in a condition to be the best place for her to continue her recovery during the crucial 6-12 month window following surgery. We are still evaluating all that needs to be done to provide a stable, healthy, and supportive environment in Illinois for Cyndi, Roman and Alex in the near future.
What we do know is that we need immediate help with the cost of setting up Roman and Alex in new living environments. We need help with flights, hotels, rental units, gas, rental car and so much more in order to ensure her siblings and other family members can travel from multiple other states for up to a year while we work together to cycle in and out of Chicago to provide care for Cyndi, Roman and Alex.
While immediate family will be caring for the boys, there will be new housing situations and other needs to ensure the boys are settled in a good stable and supportive environment.
Any donation, no matter the size, will be vital to Cyndi's recovery, as well as our ability to support and care for her boys Roman and Alex during this difficult time. We are so grateful for your time in reading this and in your consideration to help support our family.
