For all of you who are not aware of Bellatrix’s story here it is….
Bellatrix is approximately 4.5 years old, she spayed and up to date on vaccines. We think she is a lab/pit-bull cross. She is good with other dogs but does not like cats.
Bellatrix was originally surrendered to the shelter in September 2018 when she was 15 months old when she owner came to the shelter and told us he could no longer keep her as he had to leave town for medical treatment. If we did not take her, he was going to dump her in the streets. So of course, we took her in. In November 2018, a family came in to meet her, fell in love and adopted her. She was with them for 2 years until January 28, 2021 when she was returned to the shelter as her family had health issues having to go out of town frequently for them and just could no longer care for Bellatrix anymore.
Bellatrix came in a heartbroken, confused, and depressed girl. She does not understand why she was returned and no longer with her family.
Bellatrix loves to be with her people especially male. Bella can be very picky when meeting new people but once your picked, she will love you like crazy!! We have also been told she can be great with kids, once she gets to know them. She loves being outside; fishing, camping, and running.
On February 3, 2021 we took Bellatrix to the vet for a check up as we noticed that she was limping … it was not good news. She needs ACL surgery on both hind legs. The vet has advised this will cost approximately $2500 per leg making the total $5000. The worst of the two legs will be repaired first and she will have to recover for a couple months before she can have the other one done. She will be on strict restrictions with no running, jumping, playing or long walks. She will only be able to be taken out on a leash to go to the bathroom and that it is. This will be a long process for Bellatrix and us. Due to her current medical situation, her adoption is on hold.
This is a huge, unexpected cost, and we need your help to make sure Bellatrix gets the surgery she needs.
Her first surgery is already booked for March 18, 2021.
Please help us help this amazing, sweet girl who has already been through so much!
