Help us help baby Mateo

Our beautiful Mateo Jude came into this world a tiny bit early on March 17. When pregnant with Mateo we found out early on that he was going to be born with Trisomy 21(Down Syndrome),he has two clubbed feet and a very tiny heart defect. Early on I noticed that his breathing was different especially at night but was told everything was fine. On April 8 he had his first appt with a genetics counselor and his first orthopedic appt. I stressed my concerns to our genetics counselor who so happened to also be a Pediatrician along with an enlarged tongue at birth but also some swelling that week. She decided to be safe to reach out to a ENT Dr who asked to see him right away. In less then 20 minutes she saw his airway was partially blocked and couldn’t maintain his blood oxygen level. Less then an hr later he was rushed to surgery where he received a tracheotomy. He’s been in a medically induced coma since Friday after the surgery to keep him safe while the tracheotomy heals. Once he’s woken up they will start testing to find out why. Once our icu stay is over in Worcester we will be transferred to a hospital an hour away for another 3-6 weeks to ensure mateos safety and to teach us how to care for him. I never thought a go fund me account would ever be set up for my family. The extended hospital stay and then a transfer to a facility far away from our home will require gas, funding for a place to stay and a way to pay our bills as Angel has exhausted all his PTO and will be missing a good amount of work through this time.
