Help Us, Help Angela Feel Better

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Cali, and I am helping put together this fundraiser on behalf of Angela - a light within our community who has been given far more lemons lately than anyone should ever have to deal with. Life is expensive, we all know that, and we all feel it especially coming up on the holiday season. Still, life is even more costly when you have to take medications that cost over $1800 a month - a cost that is not covered by insurance. The funds raised by this fundraiser will be put towards Angela's growing medical expenses as she battles repetitive seizures, heart attacks and ailments caused by her blood disorder. There is no cure for this disorder, but her medications can help her manage it...as long as she can afford them.

ABOUT THE BLOOD DISORDER:

Hughes syndrome, or antiphospholipid (AN-te-fos-fo-LIP-id) antibody syndrome (APS), is an autoimmune condition that causes thickening of the circulating blood. The immune system produces abnormal blood proteins called antiphospholipid antibodies, which cause blood platelets to clump together.

Hughes syndrome is sometimes called ‘sticky blood syndrome’ because people with this condition are more likely to form clots in blood vessels (thromboses).

ANGELA'S JOURNEY:

Angela is the type of woman who would do anything for the people she loves and her community. She is constantly making care and goodie bags for her family, friends and community - something she loves doing.

Angela has had multiple strokes and seizures. She has also had a heart attack and heart surgery. Angela has spent a lot of time in the ICU and has suffered numerous injuries because of her seizures. Due to her seizures and strokes, Angela has had to relearn how to walk. The seizures and strokes mean that Angela can no longer drive. Angela can no longer work. Angela struggles to do things we take for granted every day - like standing, walking, cleaning her home and seeing friends and family.

Before Angela's struggles with Hughs Syndrome began, Angela was a Health Care Aide and PSW before eventually getting her RPN (Registered Practical Nurse) designation. Angela worked for Von, March of Dimes and a few hospitals. She loved helping people and being there for them in their time of need. It's our turn to be there for her. Please help in whatever way you can - be it here for the fundraiser to help cover her medical costs, reaching out for a visit, offering to help around the home, or whatever you can. Angela needs us now more than ever. Let's love on her in any way we can and walk this journey with her.

"Always so happy, bubbly, kind, loving! What more can I say....I have not seen or talked to this girl in over 20 years but I can say she will always accept you as if she saw you yesterday and listen to everything your heart wants to tell her!!!" - Finster Hamilton

"Ang has become my adopted mom I love her for everything she has done for from being there to helping when nobody else was there. She has always said I'm the daughter that she never had. She is an amazing person and just keeps showing us how amazing of a person she is. Her and Phil are my adopted parents and I wouldn't have any other way." - Kiana Howard

"While I was suffering from depression, Angela came to my house to talk to me and see what she and her husband Phil could do. That was very meaningful to me that an acquaintance reached out to support me in my time of need." - Charity Van Every

"I went to high-school with Angela and we were school friends. She is someone i have always thought about so yes she made a positive impact on my life. I remember her being funny and easy going, someone you could turn to in a moment of need. Not mean spirited or phony at all like others we went to school with. I'm glad I got the chance to meet Angela when we were so young." - Norma Cyr-Babineau
