Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out today with a heavy heart but also with hope. Our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Harriet Olson, needs assistance with her medical bills for heart surgery and relocating to a more suitable residential community. I’m starting this GoFundMe campaign to request your support in covering the costs of her treatments. Any contribution will make a significant difference in her life, no matter how big or small.
On a cold night in late January, Harriet called a close friend, explaining that she had difficulty breathing. Her friend urged her to call 911, and she was taken by ambulance to the emergency room. Initial test determined that she had advanced edema, with fluid in her lungs and accumulated in the pleural cavity, pressing against her heart. Further tests revealed that Harriet has advanced aortic valve stenosis, a condition where the aortic valve becomes narrowed. When the valve doesn't fully open as blood is pumped out of the heart, it strains the heart muscle and causes back pressure inside the heart cavities. Fortunately, she is a good candidate for a minimally invasive procedure called TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement). You can watch a short video explaining how this procedure is performed here:
We have set a goal of raising $12,000. While we are unsure of the total cost of her treatment, all donations will be used to cover her medical and therapy expenses. If we are fortunate enough to raise more than what is needed for these costs, the remaining funds will assist her in transitioning to a full-service independent living facility. After her surgery and recovery, we want Harriet to have a more suitable living environment where she can feel comfortable, socialize with friends, and access medical assistance as needed.
Her five daughters and I will manage, monitor, and distribute the donated funds.
Harriet is one of the most caring and generous people you could ever meet. She has always given her heart, prayers, and even her checkbook to those in need. Right now, she needs our help.
Thank you for any support you can offer!
Erik Olson
