This past weekend while I was out of town, a very gruesome and traumatic event occurred back home where our neighbors’ 2 large breed dogs jumped over their 8ft fence onto our property and violently attacked our dogs Mochi, Lola and Bambi, as well as my girlfriend Julina. Mochi unfortunately did not make it..

In the midst of this, Lola bravely tried to protect her loved ones and ended up sustaining severe injuries. As a result, she suffers from 6 deep lacerations to her neck, one of which punctured into her trachea. She is in critical condition and has difficulty moving, standing, walking and living her normal life. The vet has given her a 50% chance of survival as she is unable to be sedated for surgery as it can kill her. We are doing the best we can to monitor and keep her comfortable.

The trauma of losing our beloved dog has been heartbreaking, and the fear of possibly losing another has been emotionally overwhelming. What began as an unthinkable tragedy has quickly become a heavy financial burden and has placed us in a position we were not prepared for. Between arrangements, emergency vet bills, ER visits, X-rays, medication and ongoing treatment, expenses have accumulated far beyond what we could cover ourselves.

While the owners of the dogs involved have expressed remorse, they are unfortunately unable to provide financial compensation due to their own circumstances. As we try to heal and move forward, we are seeking support to help relieve the financial strain caused by this unexpected event and allow us to focus on recovering and honoring the special life we lost.

It’s hard to put into words just how much Mochi has meant—not only to me, but to everyone whose life he touched. Some of you may not know, but I welcomed Mochi into my life after the loss of my little brother, Chris. For the last 12 years, Mochi was more than my pet —he was my comfort, my support, and my constant through life’s joys, challenges and battles with mental health. He helped me get through grief in ways that I never thought was possible. Losing Mochi now feels like reliving the moment I lost my brother all over again. While nothing can ever replace Mochi, I hold hope that, when the time is right, I may open my heart to another companion, carrying forward the love and comfort Mochi gave me every single day.
