Six months ago, my ex was arrested on a variety of charges related to domestic violence. Since then, I have been navigating the overwhelming challenges of enforcing a protection order, working as a therapist, parenting my daughter, grieving, healing, filing for divorce, and trying to negotiate with someone with whom I've never actually made a joint decision.
On top of the emotional and physical toll, I have also been subjected to ongoing financial abuse. The stress of trying to keep up with mortgage payments and legal fees is immense, and I am doing everything I can to provide stability and safety for my daughter and myself. This includes getting my full counseling licensure, expanding my business, and shifting billing platforms to give myself a raise (done, done, and done)!
I am reaching out for support with multiple intentions:
- to undo the shock, shame, and secrecy of abuse by sharing my story, undoing my own self-imposed isolation of the past 4 years
- to seek financial support in ongoing housing and litigation happenings
While I’m pursuing all social service and pro bono options, any support you can offer will help us have options for our future. This includes potentially staying in our home and covering the legal costs needed to protect my daughter's safety. Thank you for standing with us during this transformative time.
