Known Grove Sacred Land Stewardship is a nonprofit ecological restoration nonprofit and free-to-residents native plant nursery based in Honesdale, PA. We work directly with landowners, NGOs, and government initiatives to create biodiverse, native ecosystems through long-term stewardship projects utilizing sustainable techniques that do not utilize herbicides, pesticides, or heavy machinery that compacts the soil. Our primary goal is to grow and support a shift in regional consciousness toward a sacred connection with the ecosystem and our place within it.
Currently, we are working to move from a registered nonprofit corporation with the state to a full 501c3 charity organization so that we may utilize greater grant funding sources. Filing for these designations is expensive, however, and our current donation and grant funds cannot be applied to administration and legal consultations needed to bring us into the next stage. Total costs are estimated to reach $3,000.
As things stand now, we are able to offer a 100% in-kind match to landowners willing to participate in projects. This brings the estimated cost of restoration projects from $6-7,000 per acre down to $3-4,000. We are confident that with full grant funding options available to us, we will be able to complete future projects at zero cost to the landowners and work toward our goal of 500 acres of native lawn conversions and forest/wetland restorations by the end of 2030.
Thank you for your help in reaching this goal!
