Help us go to the IBD Bowls World Championships!

I’m Luke Smith and I have cerebral palsy. I’m passionate about sport and play football, snooker, darts and bowls. In fact, I’ll have a go at anything!
In 2018, I was on holiday with my family. We kept walking past the bowls green and one day Granddad and I decided to give it a go. We loved it! When we came home, we both joined Byfield Bowling Club in Northamptonshire, and have been playing and competing for them ever since! I was encouraged by another Byfield player to join Disability Bowls England (DBE), and I now compete for DBE too!
My dream has always been to represent my country and I will be a member of the DBE representative team to play for ENGLAND at the International Bowls for the Disabled World Championships in South Africa, on 18th-31st May 2024. I’m over the moon; it’s such a privilege.
However, me and my teammates have to raise the money to go; it’s a self-funding event.
It costs £2,300 person – that covers the flights, accommodation, food, entrance fees and team kit. Of course, as it is a disability event, we all need to be accompanied by assistants.
I want to raise £5,000 by 31st March 2024 - that gets 2 of us to South Africa!
