Our family is reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your support for our beloved mother, Khadra Elabe.

For the past year and several months, our mom has been courageously battling Grade II meningioma, a brain tumour that has changed our lives in ways we never imagined. Throughout this journey, she has shown incredible strength, resilience, and faith despite the physical and emotional challenges she has faced.

When she was first diagnosed, she underwent brain surgery, and for a period of time, we were blessed to see her recovering well. We held onto hope that she was on the road to healing. However, after follow-up appointments, we received devastating news that the tumour had returned.

Her doctors recommended radiation therapy, and she bravely completed every treatment in hopes of stopping the tumour from growing. We prayed every step of the way and remained hopeful.

Despite surgery and radiation therapy, we received devastating news in July 2026

that the tumour is now growing aggressively.

Her medical team explained that there are no further treatments they can offer and have advised that our mom transition to palliative care, with the focus now being on her comfort and quality of life.

Hearing those words has been one of the most heartbreaking moments our family has ever experienced.We are not ready to stop fighting for our mom. We are determined to seek a second opinion from specialists abroad, hoping they may have additional expertise, clinical trials, or treatment options that could give her another chance.

Khadra is so much more than her diagnosis. She is a loving mother, a caring daughter, and the heart of our family. She has dedicated her life to helping others, always putting the needs of those around her before her own. She is known throughout our community in Ottawa for her kindness, generosity, compassion, and unwavering support for anyone in need. Her warm smile, gentle spirit, and selfless heart have touched countless lives, and she has made a lasting impact on everyone who has had the privilege of knowing her.

We are now seeking a second opinion from specialists at a hospital abroad, hoping they may have treatment options, clinical expertise, or access to therapies that are not currently available to her. The consultation alone is expensive, and there will also be costs for travel, medical evaluations, any recommended treatment and family support. These expenses are beyond what our family can afford on our own.

We are humbly asking for your support to help us cover the costs of her medical consultation, travel, related medical expenses, and to help ease the financial burden on our family during this difficult time.

Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us one step closer to giving our mom the opportunity to explore every possible option. We want to know that we did everything we could to fight alongside her.
