Neo is a beautiful palomino Quarter Horse who we had big plans of turning into a phenomenal performance horse.

My husband and I bought him as a 4-year-old in September 2025 when he was a bit rough around the edges. We spent the next ten months pouring our hearts into Neo, hoping to develop him into a talented performance horse. He received the very best care, including chiropractic visits, regular hoof care, high-quality hay and supplements, and thoughtful training that built his confidence.

Along the way, Neo became so much more than a horse in training.

Our two young children, Tripp and Thea, completely fell in love with him. They looked forward to his gentle "snoot boops," spending time with him, and practicing liberty work together. Neo thrived with our family and in our training program, and he quickly worked his way into our hearts.

Then everything changed.

In June 2026, we began noticing some heartbreaking symptoms. Neo struggled to stand up in the mornings. He would sit up like a dog and stare at his hindquarters, almost as if he couldn't understand why they wouldn't work properly. Watching him decline so suddenly was devastating.

After a veterinary examination, we received his diagnosis: Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis (EPM), a neurological disease that affects a horse's nervous system and spinal cord. While EPM can be treated and managed, it cannot be cured, meaning Neo will live with this condition for the rest of his life.

We immediately started treatment, and after just two weeks, we've already seen encouraging signs of improvement.

Unfortunately, Neo's future as a performance horse is no longer likely. Our focus has shifted from preparing him for competition to giving him the best quality of life possible.

Our hope is to find Neo a loving, appropriate home where he can simply be appreciated for his goofy gelding personality and his incredibly kind heart. We are committed to making sure he lands in the right place, whether that's with a high-quality rescue or the perfect individual who can give him the life he deserves.

If we were in a position to provide Neo with his forever home ourselves, there would be no question - he would stay. We love him dearly. But because that isn't possible, we want to make sure his next chapter is the very best one.

We've started this fundraiser to help cover Neo's ongoing care while we search for his forever home. Donations will go toward:

Farrier care

Veterinary follow-up appointments

Feed and supplements

Any other care he needs until he is safely placed
