Help Us Give Commish One More Chance

Hi friends,

You probably know our dog, Commish. Mishy, as Rose calls him. He’s not a quiet dog. He’s spirited, loyal, opinionated, joyful— and he’s been our tiny partner for 12½ years. He’s the heartbeat under our table, the tappity tap dancing down the hall, the one who makes us laugh and keeps us company through everything.

We just returned from what was meant to be our tenth wedding anniversary trip, but honestly? As wonderful as it was, it didn’t go the way we hoped.
• Rose missed home and Mishy terribly. (They’re a package deal)
• We’ve all been sick in stages
• I (Melinda) am still very sick and can’t hear out of one ear (again).

We came home tired and worn down, but happy to be back together.

Mishy had been at the dog hotel all week. We picked him up at 6:30 p.m.
By 7:00 p.m., he was gone again. He was hit by a car, and rushed to the emergency vet.

Now we’re staring down the kind of decision we never imagined making:

1. Try to save him with surgery

or

2. Say goodbye.

The surgery to repair his fractured pelvis could give him more good days with us.
But it’s expensive: $10,000-$15,000. We simply can’t afford it.

We’re reaching out, exhausted, emotional, and completely humbled, to ask for help.

About Mishy

He’s Rose’s puppy brother.
He’s Sammy’s little shadow.
He’s my partner on days when everything feels heavy.
He’s not just “our pet,” he’s part of our rhythm, our memories, our joy.

We believe Mishy still wants to be here. His spirit hasn’t left him. He’s looking at us like, “I’m not done yet.”
And if there’s a way to help him safely and lovingly get through this, we want to try.

Your donation will go toward:
• Emergency surgery, imaging, and recovery care
• Medication and vet hospitalization
• Or, if surgery isn’t viable, a gentle, peaceful goodbye filled with love and presence

We’re doing what we can. But we’re tired, sick, and heartbroken.
If you’re able to give, we are so grateful. If you can share this with someone who might help, that means the world too.

Thank you for showing up for our little family and for loving Mishy with us.

With deep gratitude,
Melinda, Sammy, Rose & Commissioner “Commish” Gordon, aka Mish-Mish, aka Sir Mishington, aka Muffin Bear, aka Chicken, and a decade’s worth of in jokes and nicknames.
