Many people don’t know that our daughter Miracle has an intellectual disability. The truth is, when Miracle first came into our home, we didn’t know either. We just knew she was special—bright-eyed, full of life, and carrying a strength that was hard to put into words.
Since then, we’ve watched her overcome obstacle after obstacle. She has impacted so many people simply by being who she is. Her smile is contagious. Her heart is pure. She would do anything for anyone. And while the world may not always know how to make space for people like Miracle, we believe she was born to do something incredible.
When she graduated high school, reality hit hard. Miracle realized she couldn’t do many of the things her peers were doing—she couldn’t drive, she couldn’t go to college like others, and she started to feel the weight of being different in a world that moves fast. She masked the hurt for a long time, trying to keep up, until eventually… she couldn’t.
This past year has been one of the most difficult—and one of the most beautiful.
Since March, Miracle has been living in an independent care facility. It’s not where we pictured her, and to be honest, it’s been painful. But in that space, God has met her. And us. We’ve seen her grow in ways we can’t describe. Little miracles have started to bloom. People have come into her life who see her. Opportunities have opened that we never imagined. She’s healing. She’s learning. She’s rising.
This week, Miracle was accepted into A New Leaf’s Hardesty Transition Academy—a two-year, college-style program designed for individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. It’s a place where she can gain life skills, job training, and most of all, belonging. A place where she can be supported in the ways she’s always needed but rarely received.
We were overjoyed… and then overwhelmed. The cost of the program is $50,000 per year.
We never imagined we’d be sending Miracle to a program like this. Honestly, we never imagined adopting a teenager—let alone one carrying trauma and challenges we didn’t fully understand at first. But we did. And we’re so grateful. She has changed us. She has grown our faith. She has shown us what resilience looks like.
We weren’t prepared for the costs of this kind of opportunity. When the staff asked if we had an Oklahoma college savings account for Miracle, I had to hold back tears. “We adopted her at 16,” I said.
We are asking, with humble hearts, that if you’ve ever been touched by Miracle’s story—if she’s ever made you smile, laugh, or believe in something bigger—would you consider helping us give her this next step?
This program isn’t just about education. It’s about healing. It’s about identity. It’s about helping Miracle become everything God created her to be—at her own pace, in a place designed to see her succeed.
Thank you for believing in her. Thank you for walking with us. And thank you for helping us give Miracle this miracle.
With love and gratitude,
Kyron & Brittany
