hi everyone,

we never thought we’d be writing something like this, but we’re asking for help for our cat luna.

in the last couple of days, she has gone from being completely normal, to appearing dizzy, to now having seizures and severe loss of balance that is getting worse. it’s been terrifying to watch.

she is currently in the ICU at murdoch vet hospital. the vets believe there is a strong chance this could be an infection, and they’ve told us there is a good chance she can recover, but we need to proceed with an MRI and further testing to confirm what’s going on and start the right treatment.

the cost of her care so far — including MRI, CSF tap, bloods and ICU — is already sitting around $11,000.

to be honest, this has hit us at the worst possible time. we are already struggling financially after buying our house and dealing with multiple things going wrong, while also juggling uni, 2 jobs, storm damage to our roof and everything else. it just feels like we can’t catch a break right now.

i know to some people, she’s “just a cat”. but to us, she is everything. she’s been there through so many overwhelming nights, sitting with us when we’re burnt out, making biscuits on us every night, and even biting me when i cry (her way of telling me to get it together). she is so loved by us and by our other cats.

we didn’t have pet insurance because we were already barely scraping by, and now we’re really, really struggling.

if anyone is able to help, even a small amount, it would mean more than we can explain and would go directly towards giving luna the best chance at recovery.
