Help Us Give Kim Polzin A Loving Goodbye

Hello friends and family,

Six months ago, our mother, Kim Polzin, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer. She fought bravely with everything she could, and at Christmastime, we got news that the chemo and radiation were working and that the cancer had all but disappeared from her lung.

In February, after a routine scan, we were informed that while the cancer in her lung was essentially gone, the cancer that had spread to her bones was growing. Mom did everything she could and followed the doctors' recommendations for new treatments and continued radiation therapy to shrink the new tumors.

Despite her best efforts, Mom began to experience more pain, extreme fatigue, and some confusion. She was rushed to the hospital where we were able to have one brief conversation before she lost the ability to communicate with us. After nearly two weeks in the hospital, doctors were able to correlate the seizures she experienced to a couple of points on the MRI, indicating that the cancer had spread to her brain.

On April 3rd, she passed away.

I am grateful that the last words we exchanged were "I love you."

Because of the sudden and unexpected change, there was no time to prepare for what would come next. Unfortunately, she does not qualify for any state assistance with regard to her burial and funeral expenses, and what little estate she did have does not begin to cover the cost to lay her to rest.

We are humbly requesting the support of our community in helping us to cover these costs. Any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to us as we give our mother a dignified farewell on May 3rd.
