Our hearts have been shattered and rebuilt more times than we can count since our son Isaac was diagnosed with a rare brain cancer called ependymoma in April 2022.

At just a young age, Isaac faced an emergency brain surgery. He then endured proton radiation therapy with incredible strength and bravery. For a while, we dared to hope.

But in March 2025, our worst nightmare returned the cancer came back. In April, he underwent a second brain surgery. The tumor was dangerously close to the brainstem near the pons, a highly sensitive area. The doctors could only safely remove part of it, leaving about 10% behind.

Isaac then entered a clinical chemotherapy trial. He fought through seven long months of treatment, but sadly, the cancer grew back again. This led to his third brain surgery. By God’s grace, the surgeon was able to perform a near total resection, removing 99.9% of the tumor.

Following the surgery, Isaac received another round of proton radiation the final time he can safely have radiation in that same delicate location.

Now, we are turning to functional medicine to support his body, boost his overall health, and give him the best possible quality of life moving forward. This is not a promise of a cure only God can truly heal him but we believe it offers real hope and strength for whatever lies ahead.

The challenge is that functional doctors and these supportive treatments are entirely out of pocket. Insurance does not cover them.

As parents, watching our brave boy endure surgery after surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy has been the hardest journey of our lives. Isaac has shown more courage than most adults could imagine. Every smile, every small victory, and every moment we get to hold him fills us with both joy and fear for his future.
