We are a small but determined team of three couples who are committed to helping families who lost their homes due to the devastation of Hurricane Helene across Virginia, Tennessee, and Western North Carolina. Fred & Christie Huger are rallying from Fairfield, VA, Scott & Tina Lough are collecting support in Scherr, WV, and Ryan & Tammy Kimble are coordinating efforts from Troy, VA.

Days after the storm hit, we traveled to the affected areas to deliver essential supplies and assist with cleanup. What we saw was heart-wrenching – entire communities uprooted, families with nowhere to go, and homes destroyed. We kept asking ourselves, "Where will they go? Where will they sleep?" Within just two days of returning home, we purchased our first camper. This inspired us to develop a mission: to acquire as many campers as possible, either through purchase or donation, and provide temporary housing for families left homeless by the storm.

Through the Feed the Need Foundation, www.FeedTheNeedFoundation.org (a 100% volunteer 501c3 nonprofit), based in Rockbridge County, VA, we're partnering with local churches and community leaders to match campers with families currently sleeping in tents, vans, fire stations, or crowding into other people's homes. We’re actively working in Leicester, Burnsville, Swannanoa, Yetzy, Mitchell, and other nearby areas to get families the shelter they urgently need.

Our goal is simple: to ensure every displaced family has a safe and warm place to call home while they work toward more permanent housing. Through the churches, once a family no longer needs the camper it will be passed on to the next family in need, keeping the cycle of support going.

So far, we have:

Placed 4 campers with families

Received 2 donated campers

Set up a plan to expand this effort as quickly as possible

But we need YOUR HELP to keep going! Our goal is to purchase, repair, and fully outfit more campers to make them livable for families in need. We’re also seeking donations of campers (preferably from semi-local areas to help minimize extra costs). Each camper requires some level of care and supplies to make it a safe, comfortable place to stay.
