At just 7 years old, Delani witnessed something no child should ever have to see. In a single, devastating moment, her childhood was changed forever. She witnessed the tragic loss of her mother, Lovay Williams, and is now left to carry a pain and trauma that is far beyond what any child should ever have to understand.

Delani should be worried about school, playing with her friends, laughing, dreaming, and simply being a little girl. Instead, she is facing the unimaginable reality of growing up without her mother and living with memories of a traumatic event that she may carry with her for the rest of her life.

This GoFundMe is specifically for Delani. The purpose is to help provide her with stability, support, and the resources she will need as she begins this long journey of healing. Funds raised will help with her immediate and future needs, including counseling and trauma support, education, living expenses, and other necessities that will help give her a sense of security as her family works to rebuild her life around this heartbreaking loss.

We cannot take away what Delani witnessed. We cannot give her back the childhood that was interrupted by tragedy. But we can surround her with love. We can help protect her future. And we can remind her that she is not alone.

In Lovay’s honor, her family is also creating a foundation dedicated to keeping her memory alive and bringing awareness to domestic violence, with the hope of helping other women and children who may find themselves facing situations of fear, violence, and unimaginable loss.
