Dear Friends and Community,
With great sadness, we reach out to you following a catastrophic event that has deeply impacted our family. Recently, a grave incident at our extended family's home and has left them urgently needing your support.
Our nephew, Colton, was with his mother (my sister) and younger brother at my mother's residence when a heartbreaking accident occurred. Colton, who was legally carrying a firearm, mishandled his weapon while holding it and accidentally shot himself in the face with the bullet lodging in the frontal lobe of his brain. This terrifying ordeal unfolded in front of his mother and brother, causing severe emotional and physical trauma. Currently, Colton is in a medically-induced coma to manage significant brain swelling. Although his initial prognosis was dire, he is beginning to respond to stimuli, hinting at a long and challenging recovery ahead.
During this upheaval, our family’s puppy, Munch, spooked by the influx of first responders, darted outside. As Munch ran towards my mother in confusion and fright, an officer, misunderstanding the puppy’s intentions, fired three times, injuring him severely. We have reviewed security footage which confirmed that Munch did not display any aggression. The thought of losing Munch amidst the crisis with Colton was unbearable, prompting an immediate rush to emergency veterinary care.
They are now facing overwhelming medical and veterinary costs. We’ve set up this GoFundMe on behalf of my mother and sister, to seek your help in managing the expenses for Munch’s surgeries and the myriad costs accruing as our family keeps vigil at the hospital. Every donation will help us manage the financial strain of this double tragedy and support Colton’s and Munch’s recovery.
This is a plea for your support—whether financial or simply by sharing our story. Your generosity and kindness can significantly ease our burden during this profoundly difficult time.
We are deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide. Your support not only helps cover the expenses but also brings hope and comfort to our family when it is most needed.
Thank you sincerely for your compassion, prayers, and encouragement.
