Many of you know our story…We spent the past two years in a hospital for the entire holiday season. Two years ago, Janessa was hospitalized with pregnancy complications in Wilmington for the entire month of November and then when Bellamy was born in December, she had surgery at 5 days old and spent a month between the NICU in Wilmington & Chapel Hill. Last year, Bellamy went to UNC Children’s Hospital for a routine surgery and ended up spending 35 days in the PICU. The days spent watching Bellamy suffer were the hardest days of our lives. The nurses at both hospitals literally saved us. I remember on multiple occasions being held and loved on by nurses who weren’t even assigned to Bellamy. They just saw me crying & stopped to comfort me. These men & women give up time at home with their families during the holidays to support and care for people they do not even know. Bellamy is here today because of the nurses that watched over her & advocated for her. We will never be able to thank them enough for all they did for us, but Janessa & I have vowed to never stop showing them just how much they mean to us. Last year while we were in the hospital, we took gift baskets and homemade goodies to the staff on Thanksgiving day. This year we will be donating starbucks gift cards and thought it would be so cool if we could raise the funds to provide a gift card for each nurse and doctor working in the NICU & PICU for the holidays at both hospitals! Please consider donating just $5 or $10 to support these ANGELS ON EARTH.
