Hi everyone,
my name is Giulia or, as I prefer, Kody and Mackie’s mum.
I never thought I’d be writing something like this, but today has been heartbreaking.
My sweet and sensitive Kody has been in sudden, excruciating pain since this morning. I rushed to our vet as soon as there was an opening, and from there, were sent straight to the emergency hospital at Port City, hoping he could get a CT scan right away.
But when we arrived, I were told the technician had already left. All they could do was give him more pain relief and do another consult. Watching him scream in pain during an injection that was supposed to help was absolutely gut-wrenching.
We’re heading back tomorrow for a CT scan — praying it can finally give us answers. From there, we’ll be referred to a specialist (I’m reaching out to all three in Perth — whoever can see him first). Depending on what they find, an MRI might follow.
This whole process is incredibly expensive. CT scans start at $2,000 ($2,700 on weekends) and MRIs at $3,500 — and that’s per area they scan. We are looking at 2-3 areas already. This doesn’t include specialist consults, emergency fees, follow-ups, medications, and more.
To be honest, this isn’t something I ever imagined having to ask for — but after a few really tough months financially, I can’t do this alone. Kody needs help now, and I need to put pride aside and reach out.
If you're in Perth, once Kody is stable, I’d love to offer my dog services (grooming, enrichment visits, walking, agility foundations, etc.) as a thank you to anyone who donates and would like something in return. But right now, I just need to focus on getting him through this.
Even if you can’t donate, sharing this helps more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your love and support
Giulia, Kody and Mackie
