Help Us Get Treatment for Baby JJ Swantek

Dear friends, family, and kind supporters,

Our 4-month-old son, JJ, has been diagnosed with X-linked Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) — a rare genetic condition that causes fatty acids to build up in the brain and nervous system. Left untreated, ALD can quickly steal a child’s ability to walk, talk, see, or even breathe on their own.

Most children with ALD seem perfectly healthy until symptoms suddenly appear, but by then it is often too late for effective care. Standard U.S. treatments are invasive and dangerous, involving chemotherapy, gene therapy, or risky bone marrow transplants with lifelong consequences.

Through prayer and research, God has opened a door: Bambino Gesù (“The Jesus Hospital”) in Rome offers a preventative treatment, Aldixyl®, which may stop ALD before it ever begins. Miraculously, JJ has been given an appointment there on September 4th.

Now we need your help to get him there. ✈️ Between flights from Connecticut, lodging, and the medical treatment itself, costs could range from $15,000–$50,000. At minimum, we must secure flights and initial treatment costs immediately so JJ does not lose this critical opportunity.
